Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider handles the query and supplies its response. We do not keep or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical information when a page loads, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The referring site, when one is available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a device. We use them with analytics services to measure traffic patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Maintaining site availability and performance
- Routing a search request to the selected outside provider
- Measuring which resources visitors use most
- Presenting advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Maverick County Criminal History does not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to the Maverick County sheriff and jail, local court clerks, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not used to create a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes displayed here. Their privacy policies govern information submitted through those tools. We do not control how a provider stores or shares a query, so review its policy before entering information.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Maverick County offices, Texas agencies, court resources, legal-aid organizations, or commercial search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy terms apply. Check them before disclosing personal data.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for targeted advertising. We do not operate that cross-site tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and site performance
- Outside search providers handling a query you submit
- Advertising networks serving material on the site
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information in our control. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights over private-site visitor data depend on the law that applies to you. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs access to existing records held by Texas public bodies, not this privately operated site. Texas Government Code Chapter 411 controls access to and dissemination of Texas Department of Public Safety criminal-history record information. Neither law turns our analytics data into a Maverick County government record. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request access to personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate personal information
- Seek deletion of personal information
- Object to certain processing when the governing law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. Any new version will appear on this page with an updated effective date, so review it periodically for changes in our practices.
